Families and carers

Holyhead Primary understands the vital importance of strong home-school relationships and will ensure the school is seen as a hub of the community where families are welcomed and involved. We see families as partners in learning that will work alongside the school to support both the pastoral and academic sides of their child’s education.

To support this we know that communication with parents and families is key. We communicate important information to parents in a number of ways across the academic year and seek feedback through questionnaires.

As well as face to face and written communication we also use online mediums such as our password-protected Learning Gateway and Social Media.

Face to Face

Teachers are available on the playground before school once a week for informal conversations and aim to be fully approachable to parents and carers.
Parents Evenings are held once per term and allow us to communicate information about your child’s learning and progress.
Celebration Assemblies are held every week and allow parents and families to join us in recognising and celebrating the many achievements of our children.
We welcome families across the school to join us on a regular basis to join their children in our ‘Learn Alongside Me Please’ (LAMP) workshops. These are a fantastic opportunity for all parents and guardians to come into school and spend time with their child, learning together in a relaxed atmosphere. The aim is to involve parents in their child’s learning and to provide the opportunity for them to work one-to-one with their child. The workshops will involve lots of practical and fun activities, as well as useful ideas and resources to support learning at home.
The EYFS, ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ offer regular opportunities for parents and carers to join their children and engage in meaningful learning through play. These sessions will be a great opportunity for your child to show off their skills and interests, showing you what they have been learning.
Family Forum aims to enable families and the local community to influence the quality of education for your children and for their community and offer suggestions to help us to improve further as a school. These informal but vital meetings act as a barometer and feed into the Standards and Performance Committee Meeting

Written communication

Annual reports are sent to parents and are supplemented by regular progress reviews
The Principal’s Newsletter will communicate important school news and updates each term, view newsletters.
The Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust will send a termly update to parents and families.

Online communication

Class Sites will be updated regularly by each class teacher and offer an insight into class life through homework tasks, class news, photos – a ‘Wonder Wall’ of work.
The Principal will share a half-termly blog via the school website
Twitter and Facebook pages will provide regular and timely communications.
