On behalf of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust I feel honoured to introduce myself as the Principal of Holyhead Primary Academy. We are a small, family orientated, one form entry primary school who cater for children aged 2-11.
I joined the school in September 2017 as Principal when the school became part of the Shireland Trust and have worked tirelessly with my team to improve the school and ensure our children receive the education they deserve. The progress made so far has been excellent with feedback from families and the local community saying how much the school has changed for the better; from the environment, quality of teaching, the curriculum, opportunities for all, safety of the children to improved behaviour.
I am passionate about teaching and want the children in our care to leave school with a ‘whole education’, so the school curriculum not only focuses on making excellent progress academically but also promotes the development of skills to cope with a challenging and ever changing world.
The school has three core values which are very dear to us: EXCITE, EXPLORE and EXCEL. Our mission is to create a learning environment that is engaging and interesting, provide great learning experiences and teaching the children a LOVE of learning. We want our children and their families to be excited about coming to school and feel part of our family.
Hi, I am Mrs McMenamin, I have been a team member at Holyhead Primary Academy since September 2012. I am the Assistant Head Teacher with responsibilities for EYFS and SEND. I strongly believe that providing children with a high-quality early years provision lays the foundations for their future education. I ensure children are excited about their learning, which enables them to excel and make progress. I provide staff with skills and resources to ensure all children can access the curriculum. It is highly rewarding when I see children being engaged in high-quality lessons and activities.

I am Mrs Smith and I have been the Business Manager at Holyhead since September 2011. I ensure that the administration at Holyhead is efficient and organised. Managing the Academy budget to ensure best practice is always at the forefront of everything we do. I strategically plan school developments which enables engaging learning spaces to be created for the children, making sure I include the children in the planning of new developments e.g. the design of our Trim Trail. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the Holyhead Academy improve with the support of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and seeing the children and families benefit from the changes.
Hello I am Mr Steventon, I joined the school in 2014. I ensure that all children achieve their potential in Key Stage 2 and do the very best they can do towards their end of schools SATs in year 6. I make sure the secondary school transition runs as smoothly as possible and ensure they are ready for the challenges they may face. I really enjoy the challenge that year 6 offers and nothing is more rewarding than seeing children progress over the years and leave Holyhead as well-rounded individuals who are ready to be lifelong learners. Within my leadership roles, I strongly believe all children have the potential to be fantastic mathematicians through effective teaching, the targeted use of resources and appropriate challenges. As Key Stage 2 coordinator I support staff with their teaching practice, help children to develop to the best of their abilities and make sure that the phase runs as smoothly as possible.
Hello! I am the English and Phonics Lead at Holyhead Primary Academy. I’m an experienced teacher and leader, having taught and led in three very different primary schools, across key stages, which has shaped my core belief that education enables every child to succeed when learning experiences and environments are centred around the children. I joined Holyhead in April 2018; teaching and leading at Holyhead is both a privilege and journey. I passionately believe that English is a gateway for children to gain wider access to the curriculum and further lifelong opportunities, and we are so keen to make sure all of our children have a love of books and reading that will stay with them into adult life.
