Holyhead Primary Academy offers a varied programme of activities to excite and challenge your children.
Here at Holyhead, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for your child. Working closely with Trust partners and experts both locally and nationally, we ensure high-quality programmes of study that foster your child’s growth and progress in various areas. We firmly believe in the importance of a holistic education and strive to offer a diverse range of opportunities that complement your child’s development in core subjects like English and mathematics.
Exciting trips are an integral part of our curriculum and extracurricular activities. From local visits to the library to explore rich texts and learn swimming skills at Wednesbury swimming pool, to venturing further afield to experience religious education in action at places of worship and conducting fieldwork at geographical points of interest such as the British Coast and Frank Chapman. Historical trips to locations like Cosford Airfield and The Black Country Museums further enrich their understanding of the past.We bring literacy to life through regular theatre trips and delve into the world of science with visits to Birmingham City University, the Sea Life Centre, and The Think Tank.
Our students are constantly engaged in immersive learning experiences. External visitors enhance our offerings with hands-on science experiments, Viking role-playing activities, life skills workshops including first aid training and cooking sessions, and immersive journeys through Virtual Reality to explore distant lands like Space and the Amazon.
Promoting essential life skills such as self-confidence, a growth mindset, and independence is paramount in our approach to education. To support our students’ personal growth journey, we offer a range of residential experiences across Key Stages 1 and 2. These include overnight stays at the Sea Life Centre for Key Stage 1, thrilling three-day outdoor adventures at Kingswood for Lower Key Stage 2, and unforgettable four-day trips to Paris for Upper Key Stage 2.
By combining these unique experiences with a robust core curriculum, we create an inspiring environment that nurtures a lasting love for learning and paves the way for academic success. At Holyhead, we are passionate about providing a vibrant and enriching educational journey for every child, preparing them for a bright and fulfilling future.
