Mental Health and Well-Being Offer

Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing at Holyhead Primary Academy

At Holyhead Primary Academy, mental health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Universal Support

We embed health and wellbeing throughout our E3L curriculum, ensuring that all pupils benefit from a strong foundation in emotional literacy and resilience. Through carefully selected reading materials, assemblies, and PSHE lessons, we raise awareness and encourage open, age-appropriate conversations about mental health.

Targeted Support

When a child needs more focused support, we assess their individual needs and provide tailored interventions. These may include nurture groups, mental health play therapy, or sports mentoring. We regularly review each child’s progress to ensure the support remains effective and responsive.

External Support

We work closely with external agencies—including mental health services and local charities—when additional expertise or resources are needed. This ensures that every child receives the right support at the right time, even when their needs go beyond what we can offer in school.

An Inclusive Environment

We are proud to foster a fully inclusive school culture. We provide resources that build self-esteem, promote online safety, and support smooth transitions between year groups and settings. Every child is encouraged to be their authentic self and to feel confident in who they are.
