Year 3 pupils enjoy Drama and Dance Workshop with Birmingham Hippodrome

Year three at Holyhead Primary Academy stepped into the world of performance for a lively drama and dance workshop run by the Birmingham Hippodrome Education Network.

The session combined expressive movement with imaginative storytelling, encouraging pupils to explore their creativity while building confidence, teamwork and performance skills. Pupils experimented with a variety of ideas and techniques, fully embracing the fun and engagement of the creative arts.

Natalie Shipley, Principal at Holyhead Primary Academy, said: “Our children absolutely flourished during this workshop. Sessions like this help pupils to express themselves, work together and see how much effort and creativity goes into putting on a performance.

“It was lovely to watch them discover new things about themselves. We value these opportunities at Holyhead because they support our pupils’ personal development just as much as their learning, and they bring a real sense of excitement into school.”

The visit was part of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust’s partnership with the Birmingham Hippodrome Education Network, which brings theatre, dance and performance into schools across the region. Pupils benefit from hands-on workshops and direct contact with industry professionals. They gain an understanding of the creative side of the arts, as well as the discipline, collaboration and teamwork involved in live performance.
